Have you been to Antonelli's Cheese shop? It's located in the heart of Hyde Park and has a wonderful selection of cheeses, charcuterie and even wines. Go before you host a party and let them know your budget. You'll get to taste everything and build the perfect cheese board! To make this place even cooler they have a Cheese House where they do cheese classes like the one I took recently: Cheese 101.
Cheese Tasting at Antonelli's
The Antonelli's website describes this class as follows:
"Cheese 101: The Seven Styles of Cheese." Our cheesemongers hand select one cheese from each of the seven styles that represent a robust and varied tasting to showcase the differences between milk types and styles. Because the cheeses are not chosen until the morning of the class, all tastings are unique.
I came to class with a group of girlfriends. Since the classes are BYOB we each brought a favorite wine. We were at a table and soon the cheesemongers began their demonstration.
We were each given a generous cheese board along with bread, olives, marcona almonds and some garnishes. The cheesemongers guided us through the tasting notes and some more information on each cheese. At the end of the evening we were able to order our favorites. This class is very educational and very delicious: an amazing excuse to eat cheese for dinner!
